Launched in 1989, it draws inspiration from the curved Tank watch, reproducing the curvature of its case. A marvel of watch-making that plays with geometry, alternating between sharp and soft effects, straight lines and curves, rounded edges and corners, the Tank American watch is also the first Cartier model to have an arched, water-resistant case. With this creation, Cartier affirms itself as a fully-fledged watchmaker. The extra-large size is available either plain or with a chronograph function, and comes with a deployant buckle (clasp). Some models are embellished with diamonds. The Cartier Tank American is equipped with quartz movement in the small model, and a self-winding mechanical movement in the midsize, large, and extra-large models, and is water resistant up to a depth of 30 meters.
