In excellent pre-owned condition. This pocket watch has been serviced. Some light aging to dial and a new vintage GLASS crystal installed. Very light surface wear to the case. This watch is unique, in that the sub-second hand is gold tone, and it is located at the 3-hour marker. Model 6 white dial with black markers and blue hands with a offset single gold sunk sub-second dial with black sub-hand at 3 o'clock, Size 16 The movement is stamped ELGIN NAT'L WATCH Co, U.S.A., 15166555. The movement is made of damascened nickel, 7 Jewel, Pendant time set; stem fitting at 12:00, movement measures: 36.4mm The inside of the dust cover is stamped Keystone Base Metal 52889 Case measures 50mm (excluding stem, crown and bow) Date of manufacture 1910 The pocket watch serial number is 15166555. This Elgin has been repaired, all rust removed, every part cleaned, and oiled. The watch sets and winds correctly and keeps perfect time. Number of this series of pocket watches made was 2000 This kind of watch is referred to as a "depression pocket watch". The movement was in a solid gold hunting case when it was new. During the depression people would sell their watches to buy food etc. Jewelers didn't want the movements because they couldn't sell them. So they came up with a inexpensive case that converted the watch to a open face. The owner still had his watch, just not as fancy.
