Piattino di Volo is Italian for flying saucer and this Stuhrling Original timepiece looks like something from another galaxy!. This elegant Stuhrling Original gentlemans automatic and quartz dual time zone timepiece sports a classic rich guilloche dial featuring a large tornado-like swirl pattern on the inner dial (suggesting a flying motion). The real attraction here however is the second time zone complication at the eight oclock position. Looking like a satellite orbiting its master the sub-dial is actually controlled by its own separate quartz movement with its own crown while the master movement is a 23-jewel mechanical automatic. The combination of a mechanical automatic movement and a quartz movement in one timepiece is something akin to an alien spaceship! You just dont see it everyday!. The Piattino di Volo looks like a space ship with its massive 44 millimeter cushion-shaped case with its unusually wide bezel topped with a satin swirled effect. The casing is constructed like a vessel made for outer space too! Milled from a solid 316L surgical stainless steel bar and flaunting a custom shaped Krysterna crystal; there is nothing about this watch that is of this world. Through the screw down exhibition case-back you can see the power source of this flying saucer decorated magnificently with C?tes de Geneve and accented by blued steel screws. On the underbelly there is a circular placement marker with the Stuhrling Original insignia emblazoned in the center representing the exact spot within the interior of the case where a second movement resides a premium Swiss quartz movement to track the time in a second time zone. Water resistance to 50 meters the Piattino di Volo is mounted on a heavy duty amply padded 22-milllimeter wide genuine French leather strap with contrast stitching quick release pins and finished with extra-terrestrial push-button dual deployant clasp.
