Mens Lapel Pin Tie Tack Men's Steampunk Vintage Mechanical Jewel Watch Movement Watch Co Tie Pin Urban Modern Sophisticated Classy silver plate steampunk men's accessory tie pin with vintage watch movement. These antique mechanical watches are of significant value, but the high repair cost makes them artifacts for us to treasure and preserve. The watch movement has detailed exposed gears and jewel bearings - both sophisticated and industrial all at once! This watch will not tell you the time, as it is more than 50 years old and is now in the upcycled phase of its life. A great gift for your father, brother, husband, groomsman, friend, colleague, or boyfriend! MATERIALS & MEASUREMENTS * The watch movement is approximately .75" in diameter. * We include both a fancy chain-style backing as well as a regular simple backing, so this piece can be worn as a lapel pin or tie pin or really attached to anything that needs a touch of mechanical adornment. * All items come in a gift box. HISTORY OF THE DESIGN While pocket watches had been worn for more than a century, wrist watches were introduced around 1900, called "wristlets" were introduced, in part because of the development of a more affordable jewel bearings production process, which made smaller, more accurate watches possible. Assumed to be a passing fad, wrist watches caught on and were most popular in the 1920s and 1930s, which is why most of the watches I work with are Art Deco from this period. An emblem of a past era of craftsmanship, these mechanical watches have real or synthetic jewel bearings, originally made with ruby, garnet, diamond, and sapphire. Many watches have the name of the watch maker, intricate tooling or design work, seen only when the watch was repaired, cleaned, and maintained. Celebrate analog!
