This sweet little original Victorian sovereign purse was made as a souvenir in the 1890s. The front and back of the purse have been covered with large pieces of beautiful mother of pearl that shimmer in the light. The front has also been printed in black 'Souvenir ' and the name of a town that I cannot quite make out. The frame of the purse is steel and it has a kiss clasp closure. Inside is a concertina type set of three small pockets for coins or keys that is made of burnt orange fabric with stiffened dividers. Condition is very good for an item of this age - the mother of pearl is perfect bar one small surface chip on the back of the purse. The fabric interior is complete and in good condition and the clasp is secure and works well. The steel frame has a couple of spots of age related rust but is generally in good order. A very pretty and usable antique purse that is sure to gain compliments. width 2.5 inches (64mm) height 2.25 inches (58mm) depth 0.5 inches (14mm) closed This item will be sent by First Class post within the UK and by International Airmail to destinations elsewhere in the world.
