Hand painted back in the 1970s, this fabulous vintage handbag has scenes of Holland on every side. You'll find windmills, sailboats, cottages, and folks dressed in traditional Dutch garb. This purse is octagon shape with convex sides. Its background is yellow and the painted areas are teal. Sporting brass hardware and an off-white plastic handle with a 4.5 inch drop, it closes via a brass ball clasp. The top two-thirds hinges open to reveal the artist's signature and date: "Cheri 5/73." Inside, the sides are unlined and it has a blue felt base. In good condition with lots of wear, this handbag has some paint loss, a few dings and overall crazing in its lacquered glaze giving it a wonderful patina. Made from wood, it measures 7 inches wide and 6 inches tall.
