This beautiful steampunk necklace is a great conversation piece! You'll definitely attract compliments with this. The centerpiece is a vintage watch with a complex and beautiful array of gears and cogs. One of my favorite new designs! It features an authentic vintage watch securely mounted on an antiqued silver, filigree, stylized butterfly stamping. The centerpiece is a vintage watch from the early to mid-1900s, and was made by Bulova Watch Co. It features amazing craftsmanship and such an elegant shape. Plus, this watch still has some of the original tiny rubies! These rubies offer a brilliant splash of color and a nice contrast to the silver. This watch is further accented with a sparkling, genuine Swarovski, plum-colored, amethyst crystal, which compliments the rubies very nicely. The necklace is somewhat short, but not quite choker-style. It hangs about 9" down from the back of your neck to the bottom of the butterfly. The butterfly setting measures about 1 and 1/2" across and about 1" tall. The chain fastens at the back with a tab and clasp. There is a danger of radium (a radioactive material) in some vintage watch parts. I want to assure you that I have tested all of my materials with a Geiger counter, and all of them are NON-radioactive and safe, so you can feel secure buying Velvet Mechanism creations.
