First at the Zurich airport, and then again in Rome, we surveyed the field of luxury watch brands. Most, like ChronoSwiss, Patek Philippe, and Chopard - are beautifully styled, with prices to match. But many, it turns out, use the same components, purchased from ISA SWISS SA based in Les Brenets, Switzerland, for their most expensive quartz chronographs. And then on the chic Via Borgognona in Rome, among the exclusive shops from Prada, Bulgari and Gucci, we stumbled across this impressive chronograph from StUhrling. Inside, the impressive ISA 8172 Swiss Quartz movement features 3 jewels, add and split functions (with split seconds, minutes and day indicator), and a quick-set date complication - the identical quartz movement used by the luxury brands. And StUhrling houses this superb movement in an imposing 316L surgical-grade, stainless-steel case that looks like it was carved from a solid billet! Black PVD coated Decagonal Bezel features "S"-logo'd screw heads. Black-Diamond embossed dial creates a dramatic backdrop for Super Luminova-tipped hands that glow like meteors at night. Sweep second hand even sports a red StUhrling "S" on the tail. And screwdown caseback ensures true water resistance down to 100 meters (330 ft.) - so you can snorkel off the coast at Antibes, then hop the Eurotrain to Lake Como in Northern Italy, with impeccable punctuality!
