18K IWC Meca-Quartz Flieger Chronograph Reference 3741, circa 1995. 36mm 18K yellow gold screw back case with sapphire crystal and classic black dial. The Meca-Quartz movement is named as such because this movement is actually a hybrid of a quartz and a mechanical. This innovation uses a quartz movement (with a battery and everything) powering the base motor while the chronograph is mechanically driven. This movement has over 220 unique parts, 25 jewels, and is less than half as thick as most chronographs. This movement, called the Cal 631, was actually developed by Jaeger LeCoultre, and features a second hand at 6 o'clock that ticks, but a sweeping center chronograph hand. This watch is presented on original IWC strap with 18K IWC buckle.
