This is a lovely vintage American made World War 2 GI US Army issued Bulova military AK10 15 jewel wrist watch from around 1941. It has just been professionally serviced in March 2013. As you can see from the extract from the guide to military timepieces It dates to around 1940 and issued to the US Army, the ord markings are printed on the screw back - ORD DEPT - USA Of. 95856 BULOVA WATCH CO. The black dial is in great condition with the luminous markings and numbers aging nicely. As you can see from the photos the shape of the hands mean that this is an army spec watch. The airforce watches had lum painted onto solid hands because of temperatures and air pressure - the lum in the filled army hands would not have lasted. You can see that these filled hands are still in great condition and, although they have turned a light brown colour over the past 70+ years, the hour and minute hands still show up at night. It is also very rare to have the lum intact on these type of hands. Just lovely. The movement is signed BULOVA WATCH CO USA 15 Jewels10AK from a Swiss design. The as movement is protected by an inner dust cover and unusualy still has its complete original gel dust ring too - see photo. Having just been serviced this watch is running exceptionally well for a 70 year old to around a minute or so over 24 hours. The watch measures 31.5mm approx diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. As you can see from the photos the chrome plated case does have some wear and marking as it has literally been through the wars. A great piece of history. The crystal is clear and has no scratches. I have fitted a brown leather Hirsch strap See photos for condition As with all mechanical watches this watch will benefit from regular servicing. Free watch case and postage so all you are paying for is this lovely watch Please see my other vintage watches including more military and dress watches, Hamiltons, other Swiss, British, German and French watches.
