My husband Neal often mused that it seems the best looking part of old mechanical pocket watches is often the inner workings, and of course I agree as well. He took an interest in the bits and pieces I had on my work table... began reassembling them to suit his own fancy...and from there a new collection was born! We are calling them WatchWerks, at least for the time being. They are bold statement pieces with an Industrial / Steampunk vibe, and absolutely gender neutral as well. Worn up at the collar it's a kickin' alternative to his necktie, yet would look lovely with her favorite sweater as well. The focal is the inner workings of an antique pocket watch. In fact, it's a complete movement in the early European style, although there are no identifying markings. There's just enough crusty patina to give it character; I was actually careful not to polish too much of it off. It's got character. The movement is backed with a large brass clock gear and a four-prong setting; riveted construction, not glue. Signed and dated. The chain is vintage brass; the closure is a brass lobster claw clasp. This is a bold piece of art jewelry and absolutely One of a Kind; it tells the world that you are strong and self-assured. I wear a similar piece quite often and it never fails to attract admiring compliments. SPECS: ~ The large gear backing the focal measures just under 2 inches (50mm) in diameter; the movement is about 1-5/16 inch (33mm) in diameter.. ~ Drop length: 2-3/8 inch (60mm) ~ Necklace length: 23 inches. Like all my jewelry, this piece was hand crafted in my home studio in Tacoma, WA.
