We are happy to offer for sale this beautiful vintage Longines timepiece that dates to 1912. This gorgeous vintage Longines pocket watch is crafted in solid .900 sterling silver open face case . A rare and interesting figure of a "muse" or women on the back. Seen others around this period, however they been complete scenes. Features a two tone ceramic dial with blue steel pointers, and black roman numerals. Hours, minutes, sunken dial sweep seconds The case measures 45mm and is 10mm thick. Sma1l chip at 2 under the bezel, otherwise the dial is perfect. MOVEMENT: Longines 18.79 caliber 17 jewel high grade, pocket watch movement with Straight line damascening, three finger bridge, bi-metallic micrometer regulator and blue breguet balance spring. The movement serial number 2548253 which dates it to 1912. SIGNATURES: Dial, case and movement signatures. With hallmarks. Inter lid engraved with 5 Grand Prix Awards PARIS-ANVERS-PARIS, MILAN, BRUXELLES Longines Universal Exhibitions Medals Universal Exhibitions were World's fairs originating in the French tradition of national exhibitions, a tradition that culminated with the French Industrial Exposition of 1844 held in Paris. This fair was soon followed by other national exhibitions in continental Europe, and eventually the United Kingdom. Many of the dust covers on the Longines Pocket Watches from the 1900s exhibit the Universal Exhibitions Awards Medals. Longines won a record of ten Grand Prix and 28 Gold Medals, more than any other watch manufacturer! These include 1885 Grand Prix in Antqerp; 1897 in Brussels; 1889, 1900 & 1925 in Paris; 1906 in Milan; 1914 in Genoa; 1914 in Philadelphia; and 1926 & 1929 in Barcelona. A excellent example of Longines pocket watch, one of the nicest we seen in a long time.
