This nice watch runs and keeps time very well. It is in a gold filled case marked Citation. The Illinois name appears on the white dial. It has excellent condition blue steel hands, and a working second hand on a secondary inner dial. There are minute demarcations in black, with minutes after the hour shown on the outside of each hour number in faint red. An elegant floral detail decorates the outside edge of the square off case on both the front and back of the case. The Egyptian style of these flowers, and of the design engraved on each of the four rear corners, are typical of the Art Nouveau Egyptian Revival of the very early 1900s. This case is not marked with it's metal content or any warranty information. It is signed Calvert, 1638161. The large round crystal is without cracks or scratches. The movement is a 17 jewel movement, and signed Springfield Illinois Watch Co. It's numbered 3770846, dating it to 1921, and the works are marked Adjusted, and Double Roller. I'm not knowledgeable enough about watches to know the size number, but it is 1 and 5/8ths inches across the face both horizontally and vertically. This measurement doesn't include the stem. A very nice and well maintained American watch.
