Quality Collectible ***************************************************************** 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed The first self-winding mechanism was invented for pocket watches in 1770 by Abraham-Louis Perrelet, but the first "self-winding", or "automatic", wristwatch was the invention of a British watch repairer named John Harwood in 1923. This type of watch allows for constant winding without special action from the wearer; it works by an eccentric weight, called a winding rotor, which rotates with the movement of the wearer's wrist. The back-and-forth motion of the winding rotor couples to a ratchet to automatically wind the mainspring. Self-winding watches usually can also be wound manually so they can be kept running when not worn or if the wearer's wrist motions are inadequate to keep the watch wound. ******************************************************************** Setting the time You will need to grasp the crown (button at the side) tightly and pull. You will be able to turn the crown/button to set the time. Once you have set the time you will need to press the crown/button firmly back towards the watch until you feel or hear a click. Winding your pocket watch You may wind your watch fully every day of use. Turn the winding crown (same button you set the time with) approx 15-20 turns clockwise. Stop if you feel resistance. The mainspring is made to wind up all the way once a day. Once you finish winding the watch you will need to rock the watch back and forth to activate it. This watch runs on kinetic energy and movement is part of what keeps it working. Most watches will run 26-30 hours on a full winding, but there can be exceptions.
