This newcomer to the extreme sports collection bears eloquent witness to the symbiotic relationship between the automotive and watch industries. The same concern for detail, the same obsession with design and the tireless pursuit of mechanical perfection: such are the common denominators between these two worlds. Consistently cultivating close ties with Formula 1 motor racing through its exceptional partnerships with Rubens Barrichello and Jarno Trulli, as well as with luxury cars through its association with Maserati, Audemars Piguet simply had to be part of the action in Singapore on September 28th. This watch is limited to just 250 pieces so it?s first come first served. The watch is made from forged carbon. It was a deliberate choice for the case as the middle of the Royal Oak Offshore Singapore Grand Prix Chronograph. Inspired by the aerofoil's, vents and other appendages of Formula 1 cars, this sophisticated material stems from a lengthy and meticulous development process. It is composed of carbon fibers compressed at high temperature. The molecular structure thus obtained ensures a winning blend of lightness, resistance and hardness. Machining an extremely dense carbon also creates a distinctive appearance admirably highlighted by the steel bezel and its studs, while eight black PVD-coated steel screws underscore the legendary octagonal shape. The case measures 44mm x 15mm and has a sapphire crystal. It is water resistant to 100 meters.Completely sold out at authorized dealers. The case back is engraved with the inscription Royal Oak Offshore ? Limited Edition ? Singapore GP 2008. Movement is the automatic AP caliber 3126/3840 with 59 jewels, beating at 21,600 bph and with a power reserve of 60 hours. All parts are decorated by hand; mainplate rhodium-plated, bevelled and circular-grained, bridges adorned with ?Cotes de Gen?ve? motif.
