The first model number for the Yachtmaster was 16628. It ran on the same 3135 automatic movement that was present in the Submariner and Sea Dweller. Two years later Rolex introduced a midsize Yachtmaster and ladies size Yachtmatser; both in 18kt yellow gold. Finally, in 1999, Rolex introduced a 40mm stainless steel and platinum model Yachtmaster ref: 16622. Along with the introduction of the 40mm was the midsize and the ladies version. In 2005 Rolex started production two tone versions of the Yachtmaster. The Rolex Yachtmaster 16622 was made to be a luxury version of its predecessor the Submariner. Both have similar looks with the Yachtmaster 16622 looking a bit more upscale.
