First introduced in 1955, the IWC Ingenieur is considered one of the most recognizable models produced by the brand with an elegant and refined design. IWC originally marketed the Ingenieur as a more traditional version of the popular Mark XI Pilot's timepiece, with a new movement created by IWC engineer Albert Pellaton. The IWC Ingenieur was redesigned by IWC engineers who had a great desire of creating something eternal. This gentleman's IWC Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar, reference 3540-003, showcases the watch's ability of tracking time until the beginning of January 2224. A round 18k yellow gold case surrounds the white dial that houses the moonphase and four sub dials of the perpetual calendar; the date dial is located at three, the month dial is located at six and the day dial is located at nine. Between the month and day dials is a four section register that displays the year; an additional year slide is provided for the replacement after the year 2221. A pair of yellow gold hands marks the automatic movement, which is shown through the applied gold stick indicators as markers. Finishing this watch is the original IWC brown crocodile bracelet and 18k yellow gold buckle. This watch is accompanied by the original IWC box, manufacturer's manual and papers, hanging tags and original IWC year replacement slide. This circa 1991 watch is in very good condition with minor scuffing on the case, case back and buckle. The manufacturer's box is in good condition with deterioration and wear.
