Timex Intelligent Quartz is a new technology from an old, respected name in Watch making. Timex is an outgrowth of the old Waterbury Clock Company, a Connecticut firm. Waterbury was founded in 1854 to make pocket watches and pioneered the wristwatch for issue to soldiers in World War I. Faring poorly in the Depression, it survived to become a leading producer of timing fuses for military use in World War II. When the war was over, the company went on to become a technological powerhouse and a major innovator in the field.
